Job Summary

Responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising hull and structural steel production activities to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently and in accordance with project schedules, drawings and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Read and understand technical specifications, prepare job-list, work schedule, plan material take-offs and manpower planning of yard men and contractors for each given job. Report to department head and update any exotic materials with long lead time.
2. Planning manpower and materials, including all facilities.
3. Order the materials required as per material take-off and coordinate with the purchasing department for timely delivery of materials.
4. Plan and execute works including manpower planning, cost control, attending vessel issues, and achieving department targets and KPIs.
5. In the absence of the Department Head, be responsible for the overall activities of the steel department. Assist the Section Project Lead in day-to-day operations.
6. Any other ad-hoc duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Key Requirements

• Diploma in Marine, Naval Architecture, Structural Engineering or equivalent
• Higher Nitec in Marine Engineering.
• Shipyard Supervisor Safety Course.
• Workplace Safety & Health Risk Assessment.
