Job Summary

The Automation Engineer (Marine Automation & Cloud Systems) will bridge the gap between shipboard operations and digital intelligence, and be responsible for designing and testing robust marine control and automation systems, while architecting the cloud infrastructure required to deploy advanced AI-driven solutions. The ideal candidate will possess professional or research experience across most of the technical stack—from vessel-side PLC programming and data acquisition to cloud-based analytics pipelines and intuitive web-based user interfaces.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Marine Automation & Control Systems
    • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC programs for marine vessel automation systems.
    • Design and test control system modeling and simulations using MATLAB and other industry-standard simulation platforms.
    • Program and optimize Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) to ensure intuitive operator control and real-time data visualization.
  2. Cloud Architecture & AI for Performance Analytics
    • Architect and manage scalable cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or equivalent) specifically for vessel performance analytics and remote condition monitoring.
    • Deploy and maintain robust server infrastructure, databases, and data pipelines to feed AI-driven vessel performance and predictive maintenance models.
  3. Software Development & Integration
    • Develop web-based graphical user interfaces (GUIs) to visualize shipboard system data and AI-derived performance insights.
    • Write efficient code in Python, Java, and C for both research-oriented prototypes and commercial-grade maritime applications.

Key Requirements

  • Degree in relevant disciplines
  • Proven experience in PLC programming and control system modeling.
  • Hands-on experience with commercial cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and the design of data architectures.
  • Proficiency in Python, Java, and C.
  • Demonstrated experience in building web-based GUIs for data visualization.
  • Keen on maritime decarbonization, new system’s design, prototyping and validation
