Job Summary

Inspector / Senior Inspector, Hull (Painting) responsible for inspecting and monitoring hull blasting, coating, and painting activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, classification requirements, and industry standards. Coordinate with production teams, subcontractors, and inspectors to maintain quality throughout project execution, verify materials and workmanship, conduct inspections and testing, and ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with the yard's quality and HSE requirement

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect hull blasting, coating, and painting works to ensure compliance with project specifications, SSPC, ASTM, and other applicable industry standards.
  • Monitor and oversee yard blasting and coating activities as directed by the Coating & Insulation Supervisor.
  • Inspect and verify that blasting and painting materials comply with client specifications.
  • Witness, inspect, and document blasting and coating inspection tests in accordance with the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP).
  • Inspect, identify, and mark steel surface imperfections before the application of coating systems.
  • Conduct joint inspections with Welding Inspectors prior to blasting and painting activities.
  • Inspect and verify that insulation and paneling installations comply with approved drawings, project specifications, and quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with the yard's Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies and regulations.
  • Comply with the NOVADE Permit-to-Work (PTW) system and maintain accurate timekeeping records for the Hull Treatment QC workforce.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

Key Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture, Shipbuilding, Ship Construction, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in shipbuilding or ship repair, with strong experience in Hull Treatment Quality Control (QC) as a Hull Painting/Coating Inspector.
  • NACE or FROSIO Coating Inspector certification is preferred (valid or expired certification is acceptable).
  • Good knowledge of hull blasting, painting, coating inspection, and relevant marine/offshore QC standards.
  • Familiar with SSPC, ASTM, ITP requirements, and shipbuilding quality inspection procedures.
  • Able to inspect and estimate coating and hull treatment work for vessels, tanks, and steel structures.
  • Experience planning and coordinating Hull Treatment QC activities across multiple vessel projects while supervising subcontractors to ensure quality and schedule compliance.
  • Good communication skills in both written and spoken English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Physically fit, able to work extended hours when required, and capable of working effectively under pressure.
