
Job Summary
The Assistant Manager Mechanical supports the Mechanical Manager in overseeing all mechanical maintenance, repair, and installation activities within the shipyard. This role ensures that mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment on vessels and in the shipyard are maintained to operational standards. Responsibilities include supervising technicians, coordinating daily tasks, monitoring project progress, ensuring compliance with safety and quality requirements, and assisting with planning, troubleshooting, and resource allocation. The Assistant Manager also works closely with other departments to support vessel repair schedules and deliver projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities

To evaluate the project scope and carry out assessment

Ensure work is carried out in compliance with international construction codes and class specifications

Ensure work in carried out as per work to permit system and with proper hazard /risk analyses

Compliance to production schedule for repair and new construction project.

Ensure quality inspections are carried out with Internal and external qc as per inspection plan and liaise on quality matters with QA Department.

Assist in logistic /spares / materials and stores.

Coordinating with owner’s representative and classification authority.

Ensure Projects are delivered as per owner satisfaction without LTI

Train Department engineer on projects works scope execution and management

Key Requirements

Degree qualification in Mechanical/Marine engineering or equivalent
-
10 Years of relevant experience in Shipbuilding and ship repair in shipyard & marine and Offshore Industry

Fluent in English (both written and spoken)

Capable of writing technical reports, work procedures, and clear documentation.

Working knowledge in the various operations/workshop

Familiar with tools and equipment used in mechanical fitting and alignment.

Excellent knowledge of Mechanical skills.

Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
