Job Summary
The Project Cost Controller supports shipyard newbuild and conversion projects by monitoring and controlling project costs and revenues. The role ensures the completeness and accuracy of cost and revenue reporting, tracks project expenditures against budgets, and provides timely financial updates to support effective project decision-making and overall cost control.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Project Cost Controller in all project cost control activities at Shipyard.
- Cascade instructions and cost control requirements from Project Cost Controller to relevant trades and stakeholders.
- Issue production Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) with budget to trades. • Coordinate with Planning and Production teams to collect and validate manhours from trades and subcontract for cost analysis
- Monitor and update monthly Production actual cost work performed and cost commitment extracted from SAP and perform cost analyse.
- Verify cost allocation according to WBS and ensure the cost and budget are measurable and assessable at the same WBS level.
- Identify Production cost variances, forecast the estimate at completion (EAC) and report findings in a timely manner.
- Act as a facilitator to work with Production team in identifying project risks and opportunities and support the development of mitigation plan.
- Collaborate with Shipyard Commercial, Project, Finance, Procurement and Subcontract to ensure alignment on cost control objective.
- Promote cost awareness and good practices within Project and Production teams.
- Prepare ad hoc project cost reports and analysis as required.
- Participate in SAP and other systems enhancement initiatives.
- Business traveling is required.
Key Requirements
- Degree in Engineering or Science. Alternative a Diploma in Engineering, or Science or Accounting and Finance with relevant exposure in maritime industry.
- Proficiency in project cost control management with strong reporting capabilities and effective communication skills.
- 1-5 years of relevant working experience in project cost control, or project control.
- Strong analytical skill with the ability to interpret complex data and make sound recommendation.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with Intermediate to Advanced skills in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. Experience with ERP system (e.g. SAP, Oracle) is required.
- Proficient in English (written and spoken).
- Knowledge of Power BI is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and a commitment to meeting deadlines and achieving objectives.
- Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Education
Bachelors in Engineering
