
Job Summary
The QA/QC Lead is responsible for managing and implementing Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities for oil and gas module construction projects, including FPSO and topside fabrication. This role ensures all fabrication, welding, NDT, coating, and mechanical completion activities are performed in compliance with project specifications, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and international quality standards. The QA/QC Lead will supervise QA/QC inspectors, manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) including investigation and close-out, and coordinate closely with clients, third-party inspectors, and classification societies to ensure quality requirements are met and project deliverables are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and conduct Project Specific Quality requirements training to production Supervisors and Sub-contractors QC Personnel.
- Establishing Work Procedures and Instructions.
- Perform Vendor audits, project specific system audits.
- Attend weekly Meeting with Client, Internal and Sub-contractors for the project to address Quality concerns.
- Conduct Quality induction to new staff joining company and project specific quality inductions for project team.
- Act as Project Lead QA/QC and control the entire project Quality Assurance and Control activities during construction phase.
- Oversees the Inspector’s performance on the project towards monitoring and control of workmanship towards quality.
- Updating of Inspection status and records on daily basis.
- Attend weekly client progress review, Internal and Sub-Contractors meeting to discuss Quality issues.
- Liaise with client in relation to Quality on Project Specific.
- Schedule and conduct Project Specific Quality Audit as per agreed Plan.
- Monitor the compiling of Piping Test Packages.
- Monitor administration and submission of ITRs for Project.
- Prepare and maintain Weekly Weld Rejection Rate Summary.
- Monitor the issue and close-out of NCR’s for the project and maintain its register.
- Monitor progressive compilation of the MDR for the project as work progress.
- Ad-hoc jobs assigned by superiors.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or Welding Engineering.
- CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2 certification (Welding Inspection).
- NDT Level II or III certification (UT, RT, MT, PT) is required.
- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification is preferred.
- Minimum 7–10 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
- Experience in FPSO or Topside Modules projects.
- Experience working in shipyard or module yard fabrication.
- Experience in EPC or EPCIC projects.
- Involved in fabrication, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Experience coordinating with clients, third-party inspectors, and classification societies (such as ABS or DNV).
- Ability to lead QA/QC activities and manage inspection teams.
- Good knowledge of international codes and standards such as ASME (Section VIII, IX, B31.3).
- Familiar with AWS D1.1 / D1.6, ISO Standards, and NORSOK Standards.
- Familiar with project specifications and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs).
