
Job Summary
The Senior Executive – Scaffolding is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all scaffolding activities to support project execution in shipyard operations. The role ensures scaffolding works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with approved standards, drawings, and regulatory requirements. It involves supervising workforce and subcontractors, managing materials and equipment, and coordinating with project teams and stakeholders to meet project schedules and operational needs. Additionally, the position monitors work progress, enforces safety and quality standards, and supports reporting, resource planning, and continuous improvement to achieve overall project performance and productivity targets.

Tasks and Responsibilities
1. Project Execution & Planning
- Plan, organize, and execute scaffolding works based on project schedule and priorities.
- Ensure all scaffolding erection, modification, and dismantling are carried out as per approved drawings and requirements.
- Coordinate daily activities with Project Team, Production, and other trades.
2. Supervision & Workforce Control
- Supervise scaffolding supervisors, chargehands, and workers onsite.
- Ensure proper manpower deployment according to workload and urgency.
- Monitor productivity and ensure work progress meets target timeline.
3. Subcontractor Management
- Control and supervise all scaffolding subcontractors.
- Ensure subcontractors comply with safety, quality, and project requirements.
- Verify work completion and endorse progress for reporting or claims.
4. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all scaffolding activities comply with safety standards and regulations.
- Confirm all works are covered by Risk Assessment (RA) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
- Implement control measures to prevent incidents and unsafe conditions.
- Ensure strict compliance with PTW (Permit to Work) system (e.g., NOVADE).
- Conduct toolbox meetings and enforce safety awareness among workers.
5. Quality Control
- Ensure scaffolding structures are safe, stable, and fit for purpose.
- Carry out inspections before handover for usage.
- Rectify any defects or unsafe structures immediately.
6. Client & Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with Project Manager, Owner Representative, and other departments.
- Confirm scaffolding requirements with end users (e.g., painting, mechanical, piping teams).
- Attend meetings when required and provide updates on scaffolding status.
7. Progress Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor daily work progress and prepare reports.
- Highlight any delays, constraints, or material shortages.
- Ensure proper documentation of scaffolding activities.
8. Material & Equipment Control
- Manage scaffolding materials, tools, and equipment effectively.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and usage to avoid loss or damage.
- Coordinate material requirement with store and procurement team.
9. Discipline & Timekeeping
- Ensure all workers follow company rules and maintain discipline onsite.
- Monitor attendance and timekeeping of scaffolding workforce.
- Take corrective actions for misconduct or poor performance.
10. Acting Role (When required)
- Assist or act on behalf of Scaffolding Manager / HOD in their absence.
- Support department planning and operational decision-making
Key Requirements
Preferred Experience
- Min 10 yrs experience in shipyards/ship repair-related hull treatment scaffolding works as Executive (Leader). Must be fully conversant of different surface preparation techniques, standards and coating applications on marine and offshore vessels etc.
- Able to understand and estimate the vessel scaffolding, tanks and the structure areas (in sqm) and able to quantify the work, percentage etc.
- Good communication skills, written and spoken English language is must and able to plan all HT scaffolding related activities on vessels and able to co-ordinate with different subcons and supervise/control the jobs as per given plan/schedule.
- Physically fit and able to work for extended hrs to meet the job quality & schedule. To be in positive frame of mind.
- Must be able to decide the critical activities for the jobs and able to give good solutions to the client/project for the jobs when schedule is very short.
- Able to communicate effectively with owner reps/clients, project manager and paint reps etc. Who, believes in the work
- Computer skills, able to generate work done report etc
- Be available for the works as required by the dept.
- Must be a qualified scaffolding supervisor (min K3)
