
Job Summary
Purpose:
We are seeking a motivated Operations Intern to join our PACC Operations team. This internship aims to provide structured exposure to bulk carrier fleet management, while supporting day-to-day administrative and operational functions. The intern will gain practical insights into commercial shipping operations, vessel operations and management.
By the end of the internship, the intern will develop a understanding of end-to-end bulk carrier operational processes, commercial shipping terminology and practices, vessel performance KPIs, and regulatory compliance requirements. The intern will be able to independently explain the company’s operational workflow, demonstrate awareness of key operational challenges and practical solutions, complete assigned responsibilities efficiently, and present their learning in a structured final presentation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Administrative & Documentation Support
- Maintain and organise vessel documentation and operational records (including SharePoint file management improvement).
- Update and manage databases (vessel certificates, port information/PDAs, vendor quotations).
- Support document management for surveys and reports (e.g., sounding surveys, cargo hold condition reports, hatch tightness test results).
- Assist with preparation and follow-up of Operations meetings (e.g., internal training sessions, safety reviews on past loading operation).
2. Operational Exposure & Learning
- Shadow Operations Superintendents to understand daily operational decision-making.
- Gain foundational knowledge of charter parties and commercial shipping operations.
- Participate in vessel performance monitoring activities.
- Attend operational meetings.
- Assist with cargo planning documentation review.
3. Special Projects & Process Improvement
- Support internal process improvement initiatives across Operations teams.
- Compile operational best practices documentation.
- Assist in development of internal training materials.
Key Requirements
- Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint familiarity preferred)
- Interest in commercial shipping and maritime operations
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
