Job Summary
The Principal Civil/Construction Engineer is responsible for managing and overseeing the full lifecycle of critical construction projects—from project commencement, construction execution, testing & commissioning, through to project handover. This role ensures work is delivered according to programme, quality standards, safety requirements, and compliance procedures. The position plays a key role in coordinating between internal teams, consultants, and contractors while maintaining strong documentation control. The ideal candidate has a civil engineering background, strong scheduling and sequencing expertise, and proven experience in data centre or similarly critical facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage construction activities throughout the entire project lifecycle, including mobilization, construction, testing & commissioning, and final handover.
- Develop, monitor, and manage construction schedules using tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Ensure construction work follows approved work sequences, technical specifications, and milestone timelines.
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and internal teams to resolve technical issues and maintain seamless project execution.
- Oversee quality, safety, and compliance across all construction activities.
- Conduct site inspections, progress assessments, and coordination meetings with all stakeholders.
- Manage all project documentation, including drawings, inspection reports, test results, commissioning records, and handover documents.
- Prepare progress reports, schedule updates, and risk assessments for project management.
- Support schedule recovery strategies when deviations occur and ensure corrective actions are executed.
- Ensure all testing & commissioning activities are properly planned, witnessed, documented, and closed out before handover.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (required).
- Minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience in construction management or site leadership roles.
- Experience delivering critical projects, especially data centres (highly preferred), high-rise buildings, or oil & gas projects.
- Proven experience managing full project lifecycle including testing & commissioning and project handover.
- Strong understanding of construction work sequencing and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Strong proficiency in programme and schedule management (Primavera P6, MS Project).
- Deep understanding of end-to-end construction sequencing and project delivery.
- Knowledge of QA/QC processes, construction standards, and engineering best practices.
- Strong documentation management and compliance discipline.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, method statements, and technical specifications.
- Fluent in English (verbal and written).
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Problem-solving mindset with high attention to detail.
- Able to work under pressure, manage priorities, and drive timely decision-making.
Education
Bachelors in Civil Engineering or Civil & Environmental Engineering
