
Job Summary
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Data Center) is responsible for ensuring stable, secure, and scalable data center infrastructure operations across EU and APAC. This role leads to L2/L3 support and continuous improvement for Windows/Linux, VMware, and Nutanix platforms, acts as the primary point of escalation for onsite IT/OT Engineers, manages vendor engagement, and participates in a 24/7 escalation on call. Exposure to BMS and CCTV/VMS software is a plus.
Key Responsibilities

- Data center infrastructure operations (L2/L3)
- Operate and support computer/virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere/ESXi), ensuring high availability and performance.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting across hardware/OS/virtualization layers and drive issues to closure.
Windows & Linux administration

- Build, configure, harden, patch, and troubleshoot Windows Server and **Linux systems.
- Support standard OS services and integration required for data center operations.
Escalation lead for onsite IT/OT engineers

- Work with onsite IT/OT Engineers in multiple data centers; coordinate activities, provide remote guidance, and ensure consistent operational practices.
- Serve as the main point of support and escalation, leading triage, prioritization, and resolution during incidents.
24/7 escalation on call (EU & APAC)

- Participate in a 24/7 escalation on-call covering EU and APAC time zones, including after-hours/weekends as scheduled.
- Join major incident response (war-room coordination), ensure clear stakeholder updates and effective vendor escalation.
Change, upgrades, and life cycle management

- Plan and execute upgrades, patch cycles, capacity expansions, migrations, and lifecycle refresh activities with appropriate change controls.
- Produce implementation plans, rollback steps, and post-change validation.
Vendor & stakeholder management

- Engage external vendors for support cases, escalations, onsite dispatch, and service delivery follow-ups; track actions to meet agreed timelines/SLAs.
- Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders across regions and functions.
Monitoring, documentation, and continuous improvement

- Ensure monitoring is effective and actionable; refine alerting and operational dashboards where applicable.
- Maintain runbooks, SOPs, diagrams, asset/configuration records, and escalation matrices.
- Identify recurring issues and implement preventive measures and automation opportunities.
Cross-domain collaboration
- Collaborate with Facilities/Security teams and vendors where needed, with ability to understand workflows related to BMS and CCTV/VMS systems (monitoring, alarms, basic fault isolation).
Key Requirements
Required qualifications & experience
- Bachelor’s degree in IT/Engineering (or equivalent practical experience).
- 5–8+ years of relevant infrastructure/data center experience, including senior-level troubleshooting and incident ownership.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to coordinate professionally with external vendors and multi-region stakeholders.
- Willingness to support EU and APAC regions and participate in a 24/7 escalation on call.
Nice-to-have / advantages
- Familiarity with BMS software (data center environmental monitoring/alarms) and **CCTV/VMS software** in partnership with Facilities/Security.
- Scripting/automation: PowerShell, Bash, Python.
- Backup/DR tooling exposure (e.g., Veeam or equivalent).
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (VLANs, routing concepts, firewalls) for troubleshooting.
- ITIL practices (incident/change/problem).
