Job Summary

  • Follow work schedule given by Foreman/ Supervisor.
  • Organise and plan required tools needed before commencement of work.
  • Ensure jobs are done safely without any accidents occurring and according to drawing.
  • Complete works within the given schedule & within allocated time.
  • Perform & maintain highest quality as per work drawing/instruction.
  • Performed team works and maintain good communication with fellow Machinist.

Key Responsibilities

  • Able to follow instructions given by Foreman/Supervisor.
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Review drawings, instructions, or samples to ensure accurate production.
  • Able to work without supervision. 
  • Operates and maintains with care on Lathe / Milling / Drilling & other machines.
  • Handle with care of all precision measuring instruments i.e., micrometres, dial gauges etc.
  • Able to identify Ferrous and Non-Ferrous materials.
  • Can carry out precision machining works with safe working procedures.
  • Able to calibrate / precise measurements and prepare a simple calibration report.
  • Design fixtures, tooling, and experimental parts to meet special engineering needs.
  • Able to provide tolerances and allowances of mechanical parts to be machine.
  • Willing to work overtime when needed.
  • Must be able to identify different types of Thread.
  • Must be able to identify different types of Tools and Equipment.
  • Must be able to reinstate / return tools / clean machines and surroundings after completion of work. 
  • Clean & lubricate machines, tools, and equipment after use.
  • Continue to acquire knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement.
  • Must be able to follow safety Rules and Regulations

Key Requirements

  • At least 3 years minimum working experience as machinist in ship repair industry/Machine Shop.
  • Have good moral characters.
  • Can operate very well on small, medium or Big Lathe Machines.
  • Ability to use precision tools (e.g., Micrometres) to take accurate measurements.
  • Strong attention to drawing details, accuracy, & can draw simple sketch.
  • Have sound knowledge in Marine Machinery Parts.
  • Self-initiative and highly motivated individual.
  • Willing to work overtime.

Education

Trade School in Engineering
