Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Project Cost Control, will develop, implement, and maintain the project cost control framework and management reporting for post-award selected newbuild projects in Zhoushan. This role will also ensure the timely, accurate, and complete reporting of project revenue, costs, forecasts, and financial performance to support effective project management and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take over post-award contracts, tender documents, and bid estimates from the Commercial team to establish the project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and develop the project as-sold budget as the baseline for project cost control.
  • Set up client revenue reporting, where required under the contract, in collaboration with the Commercial team.
  • Monitor and update actual costs incurred, work performed and committed costs on a monthly basis using the ERP system, and perform detailed cost analysis.
  • Verify that costs are correctly allocated in accordance with the WBS and ensure that actual costs and budgets are measured and reported consistently at the same WBS level.
  • Identify cost variances, analyse their causes, forecast the Estimate at Completion (EAC), and report financial performance and cost trends.
  • Establish and maintain registers for change orders, invoices, budget transfers, and cost trends, and prepare the necessary supporting documentation.
  • Identify, quantify, monitor, and develop mitigation or action plans for project risks and opportunities.
  • Prepare the Monthly Project Status Report (PMSR), detailed project cost reports, cost phasing, and other project financial analyses.
  • Conduct monthly project cost reviews to identify cost optimization opportunities and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with Commercial, Engineering, Project Management, Finance,Procurement, and Subcontract teams to ensure alignment on project cost control objectives and financial performance.
  • Promote cost awareness, financial discipline, and best practices across the project team.
  • Prepare ad hoc financial and project performance reports as required by Senior Management.
  • Participate in the implementation and continuous improvement of ERP systems and other project management tools and processes.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to Project Cost Control personnel in the Zhoushan Yard.
  • Undertake regular business travel (expected once a quarter) to support project execution and stakeholder engagement.

Key Requirements

  • Degree Holder in Engineering or Science with exposure in maritime industry.
  • 15 years relevant working experience.
  • Proficiency in project cost control management with strong reporting and effective communication skills
  • Microsoft Office (Advanced in MS Excel, Intermediate to Advanced Word and PowerPoint) and ERP system (like SAP, Oracle etc.)
  • Good analytical skill with the ability to interpret complex data and make sound recommendation.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and a commitment to meeting deadlines and objectives.
  • Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
