Job Summary

Planning to ensure instructions regarding work requirements are relayed from the appropriate documents (specifications, tender, work instructions, procedure manuals) to the sub-ordinates.

  • Implement & follow up with operators to ensure compliance of productivity, quality, environment, occupational health and safety requirement.
  • Coordinate simultaneously with supervisory staff of different trades and projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • To support Foremen and planners in pre-planning, generation of programs, and follow up of all jobs in order to utilize optimum resources – manpower and equipment.
  • Pre-planning and follow up inter trade sequences and interferences to ensure optimum usage of resources.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers / Engineers, owner representatives, other trades supervisory staff as well as internally in the department with work preparation, fabrication and material control.
  • Provide assistance to his foreman/charge hand with resources from shop, other trades, as the case may be.
  • Ensure all safety requirements for those reporting to them and processes under their supervision are complied with – raise Occurrence reports and Safety infringements in case of non-compliance. Maintain good housekeeping in all work areas of the project – on board, jetty, shop.
  • Stop processes if they do not meet specified requirement, raise Occurrence reports and approve satisfactory completion of any rework that may be necessary.
  • Motivate the team for optimum performance, monitor the performance and provide continual appraisal of all subordinates.
  • To communicate upwards – training needs, process improvement suggestions, and follow up on implementation.
  • Have the ownership of success or failure as the case may be, on their projects.
  • Maintaining all management system and production records.
  • Prepare target and progress reports.
  • Complete detailed work done report and ensure submission before the departure of vessel.
  • Carry out improvement projects and improve work processes to ensure department’s success.

Key Requirements

  • 2 Years above with relevant working experience.
  • Able to read and interpret Technical Drawings, plan tools/ equipment/ material take off, prepare project schedule and input manpower loading.
  • Good computer leadership and communication skills.
  • Able to read and understand ship structural drawing.
  • Able to plan and co-ordinate ship building / ship repair work with safety, quality and as per schedule.
